18 Feb Port Renfrew Travel Escape
Port Renfrew is a magical place that is still somewhat of a secret, even to a lot of Island locals. It has an abundance of outdoor wonders to discover with camping, glamping and luxury cabins spread throughout. The culinary scene here is growing fast and it already has a few options well worth coming to town for. This is why we’re going to do our part and help make Port Renfrew known worldwide for its rugged charms.
Those looking to explore ancient rainforests, discover hidden beaches or surf the afternoon away can find escape here. Avatar Grove which is seen in the video below is a must see Vancouver Island attraction in our opinion and makes for the perfect day hike. It’s part of the Carmanah Walbran Provincial Park which offers a variety of hiking trails. Enough trail for casual hikers as well those venturing along on the west coast trail of course…so if you’ve run into them you’ve gone way way way too far(keep on the well marked trails).
Botanical and Sombrio beach are both hotspots for those that head to the quaint coastal town, but there is a lot of remote playground for outdoor enthusiasts to explore just outside of town. Take a look at the surrounding area in Google Maps and you’ll see just what I’m talking about.
We have local advice, guides and web information ready for hikers as well as where to stay and dine. One of the best places to stay when you’re in Port Renfrew is without a doubt the Viewpoint Penthouse from Seaside Cottages. From here you’re setup in town and a short drive to many great hiking trails, fishing charter’s and whale watching.
